Sight Word Tracing and Writing Sheets

Two sheets: read, trace and write, then use the words in real sentences.

Read, trace, write

Trace: a, and, away, big, blue, can, come, down, find, for, funny, go, help, here, I, in

Finish the sentence

Sentences: all, am, are, at, ate, be, black, brown, but, came, did, do, eat, four, get, good

Why cover it before writing?

Copying a word lets a child look at each letter without remembering any of them. Writing it from memory makes them recall the whole word, which is harder and does more. That's why the last column is for covering the first two and writing without looking.

Questions

Is this good for a child who can't write yet?

Tracing is fine from when they can hold a pencil comfortably. Before that, use flash cards or the game.

Is it really free?

Yes. Print as many as you like for home or class. Each sheet carries our web address at the bottom, and that's the only catch.

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Paste them into the list maker and tap Flash cards.

An app is on the way

We're building a Wordburrow app for iPhone. The plan is everything you can play here, plus offline play and a parent view of the words that have stuck. It isn't out yet. The whole game is free here in the meantime.
