Printable Sight Word Flash Cards
Eight big cards per page. Press New sheet for the next eight words.
How to use flash cards well
- Start with five to eight cards, not the whole list.
- Show a card for a few seconds. If your child gets it fast, it goes in the know it pile.
- If they stop, say the word, point out the tricky part, and use it in a sentence. Tick Answer key for a sentence for each word.
- Finish on a word they know, and stop after about five minutes.
Five games to play with the cards
Slap it: lay out six cards, say a word, and race to slap it. Go fish: print two sets and match pairs. Hide and seek: tape cards around the room and read each one you find. Stepping stones: place cards on the floor and read each one to cross. Beat the timer: see how many your child can read in thirty seconds, then try to beat it.

Questions
How many flash cards should we do at once?
Five to eight is plenty for young children. Keep it short and mix in a few they already know.
What paper should I use?
Card stock lasts longest, but plain paper is fine. Lamination helps in a classroom.
Is it really free?
Yes. Print as many as you like for home or class. Each sheet carries our web address at the bottom, and that's the only catch.
Can I use my own words?
Yes. Paste them into the list maker and tap Flash cards.

An app is on the way
We're building a Wordburrow app for iPhone. The plan is everything you can play here, plus offline play and a parent view of the words that have stuck. It isn't out yet. The whole game is free here in the meantime.
